The Herndon Festival ramps up the FUN for kids! Families can enjoy a variety of FREE arts and entertainment activities.
New this year! On Friday night from 5:30-6:30pm, there will be a Kids' Car Creation and Puppet Show! Kids can make their own custom cardboard car, watch a puppet show, and then drive their cardboard car around the Herndon Festival. This is a free event! A special thanks to F.H. Furr for sponsoring this fun activity. Sunday, the HMC Stage will feature some exciting family-friendly entertainment from 2-5pm.
Children's Hands-On Art Area
The Herndon Festival is once again grateful for Arts Herndon’s support as they produce the Children’s Hands-On Art program, a FREE family-friendly event open to children of all ages on Sat. June 3, 10am-5pm and Sun., June 4, 11am-4pm at the corner of Station and Lynn Streets.
This year’s theme is Under the Sea with Arts Herndon and Me! Activities feature multi-media art projects and a give back to the community craft. Join in the fun as Arts Herndon’s trained volunteers and staff help children let their imaginations run WILD as they create popsicle stick mermaids, button snails, hand-print fish puppets, paper plate pirate ships, and more.
A Community Art Project will also be a focal point with children coming together to create a larger piece of art for the benefit of sharing the hope and beauty of art. So come on by Children’s Hands-On Arts in Kids’ Alley.
Kids' Alley Entertainment
The Kids' Alley is located near the Children's Hands-On-Art Area and it is full of surprises and excitement. A variety of roaming entertainers are on hand to interact with Festival goers and best of all make you giggle.
Enjoy our fireworks display on Saturday night and is choreographed to music. The show will start at 9:30pm.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire community service hours for high school, college or other service organizations. Girl and Boy Scout troops are especially welcome to volunteer and service patches will be provided. Information about volunteering will be available in early 2018.
Children's Hands-On Art area accepts volunteers 12 years and older. Volunteer times are flexible and are usually assigned in two-hour shifts.
