10k/5k Races & Fitness Expo - June 6

The annual Herndon Festival 10k/5k Race is scheduled for Sunday, June 6 at 7:30 am. Participants can register in advance at the Herndon Community Center. A t-shirt will be given to all preregistered 10k and 5k participants. There will be door prizes and refreshments available after the race. A Fitness Expo will be held in conjunction with the race.

Packet pick-up will be held Saturday, June 5,  from 11 am - 4 pm and on Sunday, June 6 from 6:15-7:15 am at the Herndon Community Center.

Please Note: Participants should be able to complete the 10k race in 90 minutes and the 5k race in 45 minutes – After these times, race officials will transport any participants still remaining on the courses back to the Herndon Community Center.

Event Details:

The Course

Both of the races will be run on certified courses throughout the Town of Herndon on paved roads. USATF rules prohibit strollers, baby joggers, pets, in-line skates and headphones on the course. Water stops will be available throughout the course. The race will begin and end at the Herndon Community Center.

Timing - ChampionChip Race Timing

This event will be scored using the ChampionChip Timing System.  Runners can bring their own chip (must indicate personal chip on registration form) or at packet pick-up, runners will be issued a disposable computer chip.  These chips must be attached to the shoe and worn throughout the race for timing results.  Timing mats will be at the finish line  to will record a finishing time for each runner with a chip.  All rental chips must be returned at the finish line.  Note: The disposable chips don't need to be returned at the end of the race.  

Awards

Awards will be given to the top two finishers, both male and female, for each race in the following age categories:

• 10 and under
• 11-14
• 15-19
• 20-29
• 30-39
• 40-49
• 50-59
• 60-69
• 70 and over.

Overall winners will receive great running merchandise in addition to an award.

• Early Registration on or Before April 30 - $22
• Regular Registration May 1- June 5  - $27
• Race Day June 6 - $30
• Ages 15 and under Flat Fee -  $17

Fitness Expo Vendors Wanted
